Issue 1 ONLY applies to Constitutional Amendments.

A YES Vote on ISSUE 1 on August 8 is important for at least two reasons:

It will raise the bar to pass a constitutional amendment in Ohio from the current simple majority of 50% plus one to 60% percent. It is important to protect our Ohio Constitution against future proposed radical initiatives being pushed on Ohians by the ACLU and their major funder George Soros, including the extreme pro-abortion, anti-family Amendment that is likely to be on the ballot in November. Normal laws (criminal laws, property law, contract law…), will follow the same procedures as before. Issue 1 does not impact the process for how normal laws are passed in Ohio.
It will ensure that ALL Ohians have a voice in amending the Ohio Constitution. Today, petition circulators only need to get signatures from 44 counties and can (and do) ignore the citizens of the other 44 counties. Likewise, amendment proponents can ignore all but the largest Ohio counties when advertising, campaigning or explaining their proposal- because only nine (9) counties represent more than 50% of the Ohio population. An amendment can be passed by only a relatively few counties, so residents of the vast majority of Ohio counties can be ignored.

Important dates to be aware of:

Tuesday, July 11: Absentee and Early In-Person Voting begins
Sunday, August 6 at 5:00 pm: Early In-Person Voting ends
Monday, August 7: Last day to drop off or postmark your Absentee Ballot
Tuesday August 8th: ELECTION DAY

What an incredible blessing it is that, as Ohioans, we have been given the opportunity to go out and make our voices heard on this issue! But we cannot take that for granted by staying home during this election. Innocent human lives hang in the balance and depend on us getting out to vote YES on Issue 1.
